Terms & Conditions

Trousseaux agree to sell, reserve or order on your behalf items listed overleaf on the following terms and conditions.

1. Payment of Order

  • A deposit of 50% is payable before an order can be accepted and passed to the supplier. Payment of the deposit shall be conclusive evidence of the acceptance by the Purchaser of the terms and conditions
  • Full payment of bridesmaids and accessories is payable before an order can be accepted and passed to the supplier
  • The balance of the price is payable within 14 days of intimation to the customer of receipt of the garment from the supplier. In the event of payment by cheque, no goods can be removed from our premises until it has been cleared through our bank
  • If payment is not made within the 14 day period, then interest will be due on any unpaid balance at 4% above Bank of England base lending rate until paid

2. Cancellation of Order

  • No cancellation of this contract is accepted after the deposit/payment is made unless the supplier is unable to deliver the garment for the occasion date in which case a full refund will be payable to the customer in full and final settlement of all sums due. Under no circumstances are deposits refundable or transferable
  • Should an order be cancelled the balance must be settled and all goods collected
  • No refunds or exchanges on goods purchased will be given – except in cases where there is an inherent fault

3. Sale, Special Offer, Discounted Stock

  • These items are either ex showroom stock or discontinued styles and are NOT SOLD AS PERFECT
  • Goods have been examined and all know defects have been pointed out to you at the time of the sale
  • Sale goods must be paid for in full and removed from the premises
  • Dry cleaning, storage and alterations are undertaken at additional costs

4. Fittings and Alterations

  • A standard size (12, 14, 16 etc) will be ordered according to the customer’s measurements in relation to the supplier’s size chart
  • Trousseaux cannot be held responsible for the inaccuracy of supplied measurements
  • After the date of order, Trousseaux cannot accept responsibility for any changes which may occur to the customer’s body shape, size or height.  This includes dresses ordered ‘made to measure’ with a calico.
  • Special measurements, lengths and size 20 plus (where available) automatically incur an additional charge carried forward from the supplier to the customer
  • No alteration will be made to any garment prior to the full purchase price being paid
  • Alteration costs are in addition to the price of the garment and are required to be paid for in full, by cheque or cash to our independent dressmakers, prior to collection of the garment
  • You are free to have any alterations or amendments conducted by the seamstress of your choice. Trousseaux does not employ and is not responsible or liable for the work of your chosen seamstress. In the event that any alterations undertaken are unsatisfactory, this is a contractual matter between you and your seamstress

5. Fabrics

  • Whilst every effort is made by the supplier to match fabrics, we cannot guarantee designs on trims, nor the exact shade or texture of a fabric
  • Silk is a natural fabric and the weaving of the fabric may therefore contain minor variations and irregularities that are characteristic of fine silk yarn. These should in no way be considered as defective nor should Trousseaux be held at fault

6. Collection of Goods

  • The customer is requested to collect goods within 14 days after notification of delivery unless our storage option has been purchased. A storage charge is made to cover the cost of storage and insurance. Notice must be given prior to arrival at the premises to inspect or collect the goods
  • Upon collection of a wedding gown, the customer is advised to store it in a room out of direct sunlight and in a constant temperature. If goods are not collected by the customer within 3 months of receipt of our second written confirmation, then these goods will be returned to stock for re-sale and all monies pertaining will be forfeited
  • All goods are to be inspected prior to leaving Trousseaux premises. No responsibility will be accepted by Trousseaux once goods are in the care of the customer

It is important that you understand this agreement is a firm and legally binding contract. Nothing in this agreement is intended to affect your statutory rights. These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England & Wales.
